It’s September, and that means we are kicking off this month with a new themed bookshelf! Check out our apple book shelf from August, here! In this post, I am sharing some our favorite fall leaves read alouds for homeschool!

September has always been one of my favorite times to bring a fall into our homeschool. Even though the weather here doesn’t always get the memo right away, we are officially ready for all things leaves, changing seasons, and the little signs that autumn is on its way!
This month, we will be doing a leaf study as part of our lessons. We’ll be learning about leaves, how and why they change colors, and what happens as the seasons begin to change. We’ll also be talking about the transition from summer to fall, daylight hours, and eventually, Daylight Saving Time. I LOVE The Sun Thief for this topic!
I love using themed books to help bring what we are learning to life. Picture books allow us to really explore a topic in a way that feels fun and natural, while giving us plenty of opportunities for conversations and questions throughout our studies.
And honestly…a themed bookshelf is just a fun way to get excited about learning!! Some of these books will connect directly to our leaf study, while others simply celebrate the beauty, wonder, and fun of the fall season.
