Hey friends! Today I’m sharing my tips on how to set up a simple a morning routine that sticks!
create an Easy Morning routine to Start Your Day Strong
Let’s be real, I’m probably over here writing this blog in my mom uniform (black leggings and oversized sweatshirt), chasing a toddler, hair loaded with dry shampoo, and I’ve more than likely misplaced my cup of coffee. Can you relate? Mornings can be chaotic, especially when you’re balancing mom life, household duties, and everything in between. But having a simple morning routine can change everything. I know firsthand that starting the day with structure and peace helps set the tone for the entire day.

1. Wake Up Early (But Make it Realistic)
I know the idea of waking up early can be daunting, especially when you’re in a season of sleepless nights or have littles waking up every hour. But even waking up just 15-30 minutes before your kids can make a huge difference in starting your day with a clear mind. I try to wake up between 4:30-5:00 AM, but if you’re just getting started, aim for a time that works for you. Even if it’s just a few minutes earlier, you’ll notice how much more grounded you feel with that quiet time before the day officially begins.
2. Quiet Time with Jesus
This one is non-negotiable for me. My mornings start with Jesus, and it’s what anchors my entire day. Whether you spend 10 minutes or an hour, finding time for prayer and reading your Bible will fill your heart and mind with truth and peace. I love starting with a simple prayer and diving into a passage of scripture. This time not only helps me feel connected to God but also reminds me of His promises, which I need as I tackle the rest of the day. If you’re new to morning devotionals, start with something simple like reading one chapter or journaling about your prayers.
3. Set Your Intentions for the Day
After my quiet time, I like to jot down a few intentions or goals for the day in my Happy Planner. Nothing too overwhelming – just a couple of things that I want to focus on, whether it’s completing a task for work, being more present with my kids, or even remembering to drink more water. This little habit helps me stay intentional with my time and energy, even when life gets hectic.
4. start with a Morning Habit That Energizes You
What energizes you in the morning? Is it a workout, a healthy breakfast, or maybe a few minutes with your favorite podcast? I’m a big fan of starting the day with a healthy breakfast (a breakfast salad is my fave!) and a quick workout to get my blood flowing. Whatever you choose, let it be something that lifts your spirits and gives you that boost to start your day with energy.
5. Stick With It
The key to any routine is consistency. Start small and give yourself grace when things don’t go as planned – because let’s be real, life happens. The important thing is to keep showing up, even if your routine doesn’t look perfect every day. As you build your habits, they’ll become second nature, and before you know it, you’ll have a morning routine that helps you feel prepared and present no matter what the day throws your way.
How to Set Up a Simple Morning Routine That Sticks
By waking up early, spending quiet time with Jesus, and starting your day with intention, you’ll create a routine that not only sticks but helps you thrive. I’m cheering you on, friend!
Now, I’m off to find that cup of coffee I set down… somewhere. 😉
xoxo, Erin
